Currently the way that we use voxels is in an additive way and we can only delete with the limited predefined shapes that are available to us by default. My idea would be that when you use the select tool and copy an area of voxels, you can use them (holding Alt) to remove the copied voxels from the shape which you are Alt-clicking on after pasting with ctrl-v. Imagine the shapes that could be created using such a mechanic. There would be an endless possibility or shapes and ships and people would pretty much be able to create their own "brushes" and shapes to carve out of their ships and buildings.
