    Dear Alpha testers,
     
    The Beta launch is coming in just a few weeks and as you might expect it, so is the pre-Beta wipe! You will have 2 last test sessions before the wipe, during which we ask you to save all the Constructs you want to keep under the form of a Blueprint. 
     
    We know that this official announcement comes on short notice, but as you can imagine, the whole team is on a tight schedule to deliver the Beta at the end of the month and we’re trying to inform you as much in advance as possible with the time constraints.
     
    The last test sessions before the wipe will occur will be:  
     
    From Thursday, August 6th at 14:00 UTC
    To Monday, August 10th at 14:00 UTC
      From Thursday, August 13th at 14:00 UTC
    To Monday, August 17th at 14:00 UTC  
    Remember, everything will be wiped following this session, except the normal blueprints located in your Player Inventory (Nanopack), so be sure to keep those previously on your character, and not anywhere else (like in a container).
     
    Last but not least, we also want to apologize for the inconvenience regarding the very short notice about the extended PvP zone and the issues that may have resulted from the situation. However, if you’re in a situation where some of your Constructs have been damaged before you can make an up-to-date blueprint of the said Constructs, please contact our Customer Support as soon as possible so you can get help from our team before the next test session. If you’re in such a situation, please read carefully the process described in the previous announcement published here.

    Hello Noveans! 
     
    As NQ-Nyzaltar said, I just joined the team here in Montreal. I'm very happy to be here, and excited to continue this amazing journey with all of you. I am quite new to the company so I do ask for a little patience while I get sorted here, I may not have all the answers right away but do know I will do my best to help make your experience with us the best it can be. 
     
    A bit about my background, I've worked on quite a few games of all varieties (MMO, Table Top, Card, Collectible, Board and more) for more years than I care to admit. I'm definitely an MMO fanatic and will be spending just as much of my free time along side you (in secret ) as you do. I'm convinced I'm a cat whisperer (though the same can be said for coffee), and a sci-fi fan. 
     
    I can't wait to see, share and celebrate all that you build in this amazing universe together!

    This is not crappy suggestion as imo industry only on static elements makes no sense if we can make huge moving constructs, luckily devs already said that dynamic cores might have industries in future but for now they want to keep it static. If we can physically (size wise) fit machinery on any construct and have enough power to run it then players should  be able to no matter if it is dynamic or static, flying fuel refinery or mobile ore processing unit. Also imagine if you we to embark on long exploration journey to nearest star system then it would be only logical that we can manufacture some stuff on our ship upon arrival without need start making bases, players could play like real nomads.

    Subs is definitely the best system, hands down. Think about it.

    Name another system that incentivises the developers to continue to develop and maintain the core game; It's in their vested interest.
    Drop the ball and the subs disappear.
     
    Elite dangerous suffered from this.
    5 years ago they charged players a massive amount ($300) for the Alpha and promised Life Time worth of free downloads.  Just before the game went live, they offered a $100 LEP (Lifetime Extension Pass) on top of the cost of the game ($60) which promised to give the later-comers free DLCs for life, just like the Kickstarted, Alpha and Beta backers...
    The game had no subs.

    Instead, the moved to microtransactions on cosmetics.

    Result: five years after release and only one proper, solid expansion (Horizons) and a bunch of half hearted later addons (Beyond), while Frontier, the company, moved on to develop Jurassic World and Planet Coaster and a new IP coming this year. However, no fear, there are hundreds upon hundreds of mediocre colour palettes from which to choose from to colour your ships or add stupid bobble heads to your ship's dashboard. Pretty pathetic for half a decade's progress, IMHO.

    Reason: No incentive to do anything since they already had the money from tens of thousands of LEP owners and Kickstarter/Alpha/Beta players.
     
     
    The subscription model should ensure that they try to keep the players interested for as many years as possible.

    We all know that DU is a game based on it's community, which is supposed to build civilizations : cities, politics, economy etc ... Players will act according to their personal feelings and by their own means to reach their goals.
    What i was wondering about, is that it could be a very good experiment to observe all the different behaviors player could have (builders, traders, warriors, diplomats ...) and their interactions, like a huge mini-world with potentially thousands of guinea pigs (us ^^') !
    This kind of stuff happened in WOW when a bug just spread a contagious virus in the game that created a real plague situation (The Corrupted Blood incident), and it has been a really interesting event for people who were looking to analyze player's behavior (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrupted_Blood_incident#Models_for_real-world_research).
    To me, DU is an opportunity for social scientists to look for similar situations.

    Hereby I would like to present you my Discord Bot "DU-auth" for each Discord Server.
    The users of a discord with "DU-auth" can authenticate themselves with their Dual Universe Board Profile.
    With this bot, fakers and cheaters have no room.
     
     
     
    Facts about the bot:
    - Users only need two steps to authenticate themselves.
    - Server owners only need three simple steps to install the bot.
    - Auto check of changed names (enable or disable).
    - Many admin commands to configure the bot.
    - Define the role for authenticated users.
    - Define the channel for commands.
    - Create private welcome message (enable or disable).
    - Users only have to authenticate on one discord with "DU-auth", then they are also authenticated on other servers.
    - Needs only minimal permissions.

    That was my writing but foremost about volume: 64m3 to 4000 liters gave that exact 16:1 number.
     
    Mass reduction is not directly mentioned. They said they reduce volume and weight. Also they mention that mass carries over in crafting and in future we can transport ore in atmosphere.
     
    I checked few elements like small space engine. It weights one ton and uses about 20 tons of ore. I only looked few other examples and they all pointed to similar 1:10 or 1:20 reduction in ore mass from ore to element in r0.14. Assuming element weights don't change and they use same amount of ore in r0.15 too, this pointo to at least 1:10 reduction in ore weight.
     
    My larger freighter can lift away from planet without AG about 200 tons from Alioth, 400t from other atmo planets and 1000 tons from airless. Asuming 1:10 weight reduction in r0.15 that 200 tons would estimate to  one or two deposits refined to pure, depending on density.
     
    Hover freighters were already easy and effective, so they are not a reason to change ore weights.

    They realesed the info about ages ago. + now too.
     
    Honeycombs as state in the devblog, are crafted from ressources. And can be used as building "blocks", aka the voxel material you can use to make ships etc.
     
    Well we can't say what honeycombs are avaible, but we can say the generics ^^.

    If they aren't going to give us wheeled vehicles and ships to move bulk materials around with, they're going to have to either reduce mass or massively increase engine power and torque tolerance for us to be able to move anything.  I mean yeah, there's a reason we use trucks, trains and especially ships for moving lots of heavy stuff, but if they don't give us the option, they're going to have to do something.

    I'm very well aware it is in the early Alpha stages so that is to be expected.  I can see this game being the game of the decade in the 2020's, much like Minecraft or Skyrim may have been for our current decade so I am in this for the long haul.
