What tech are you talking about?  The server tech that was supposed to  allow 100s of players and/or ships to play in one area at the same time without horrible lag?

    Yeah, that tech doesn't work.

Yep, greatly pains me to this day. Overall, as I concluded for my self over research and latest news -- in terms of WHY this was like this...

I think despite all blablabla of super innovation, they kinda botched techical part of development very early on, to catasprophic levels of things not working for years, until practicaly 1st month of so called Beta start (something they indeed never admited "transperantly"). So, development of actual gameplay (things about we "feedbacked" in agony) suprisignly never was priority. They just wasted everyone's time and passion, doing some mocking pretending of listeing feedback (15 k posts in "ideas") -- and in practice just throwing together some hastly, low effort mix of (bad) parroting of Eve and (JC?) "civilization-building" fantasies in very little time they left from tech stugges.

While I maybe missing nuances (because again -- zero transperancy) but strongly believe this is DU general story until this day. With crowning achievment of 0.23.

We typed our fingers to bones about this in endless "feedback" with alpha guys. Was ignored by NQ (if we exlclude mockery of "wrecks").

I honestly tempted to go to something that can be percieved as "devs bashing", but generaly current reality we play...  tells better story for everyone to judge themeselves without me going rage mode.

Assuming, of course, that this is all true. But if it is true, then I would find it shabby that we customers were informed by a 3rd source and not by NQ.

Oh wait... I see a pattern...

The rest of them will be go mine X and deliver it to me.  The mission system won't keep people from having to mine.  It will be a lot of big guys trying to convince the small guys that mining for them at a loss is in the way to go.

Bounties might be nice when ava comes, until the average player realizes that he will spend more in ship parts, ammo, fuel and time than the bounty is worth.

Until they fix the grind of mining and the costs of basic industry, I think this game has about had it.

Wish we had the promised game by now. Cant have everything

I disabled that long ago in the community page while it still worked

    Yup exactly.

And bounties with ava still are at least 2 years away...... you know, after they release du in 8 months with all promised mechanics. But thats no problem because "there are no red flags"

It will be hilarious when ppl find out that the mission system is only a contract system and that this doesn't mean PvE content.
I doubt ppl will use it as Quanta generation. Rewards from aphelia won't be huge and in the first months These missions will only entail "bring stuff to x".

This is true yes. The worst part here though is that NQ actually put direct blame on solo and small group players for the fact markets did not function and sold the 0.23 changes as a "fix" for this.

NQ _wants_ big orgs to control and dictate the game parameters and expects solo and small group players to just follow that meta or become a big org if they want to create meta themselves. They pretty much killed their initial claims that the game will offer every opportunity for solo players to be successful. Clearly that success would not equal what a large org could do but NQ has changes the game to the point where small group and solo players are directly dependent on what large groups do or don't do.

Results are seen in for instance AGG being not available on markets at all or at ridiculous prices which directly follows from large orgs being able to cook their own and control the availability of these items for the rest.

Ok.. as a new player i finally understand why o.23 killed the player base..

"Specialize and use the markets" *boot to the head with schematics*

I came in after schematics so I didnt get what all the fuss was about.

Ok.. I have been specializing and have some t4/t5 refining and smelting and basic parts lines up.. I mine ore, refine, produce low level parts from t3 and t4 ores and materials... good mid level products...time to start using the market

What? The lag is so bad its basically unusable? It would take riddiculous time just to go around and put my stuff for sale

What, all the high level stuff is built by god like tychoons with full production lines that dont buy anything but ore?

    So I'm left thinking..

    I FINALLY GET IT!!

I was defending this game and arguing that people must have been cry babies overreacting, cause I was making progress in specializing... I just hadn't got to the point where I was ready to sell yet....as soon as I tried to "take my wares to market" I realized instead of creating an economy of specialists.. all they did was creat an economy of elite industry tycoons and ore mining peasents

At least before 0.23 I could have said...oh well.. if the markets and economy are unusable I'll just make my own stuff and have fun

They actually promised to have the most transparent development in their Kickstarter where they were asking for our money. So yes, they do have an obligation to talk to us as they promised that to us as part of a giant marketing campaign.

There's all sorts of other promises they are not going to deliver on too.  If this link redirects to a video, you might have to search for it on google. Last time I checked any reference to it on their site, forums,  etc had been redirected to one of their promo videos.

As for us old-timers being spoiled, I can only LMAO at that.  NQ has NEVER lived up to that promise - ever.  Not even close.  Not even close to close.  Had they ever bothered to have real discussions with us  or tried to listen to even a small fraction of our feedback - this game probably wouldn't be in its current state.  It was a bait and switch.  They wanted free bug testers and they got them.  And even then many of the bugs we found have yet to be fixed after all this time.

So that's why so many of us are so salty.  They made a promise, took our money, and didn't even try to keep that promise.

Wow, did you read the same page as me?  All the promises about solo players being a thing, building giant moon-sized bases, AvA, everything being player generated, etc?  The market is is run by bots, the most valuable items (schematics) are not player made, no mass producing blueprint factory, solo players have no chance, there is no AVA, no "transparent" development, we can't "create" our own markets, no missions/quests, there's no way in hell the server can support cities or ships with 100 players on it...and on and on and on.

    Just wow.

Schems, to be fair, only drammaticly accelerated collapse of whole thing.

If you imagine for a moment that 0.23 never happened, does it (honestly) makes game anymore fundamentaly fun? No. People just be getting exausted and quiting slower and with less bitterness. Because beyond stuff NQ stolen from us (by locking away with ransom) with 0.23, there is still no good content generating mechanics. Game is pretty sterile (in some aspects -- blatant tech demo) beyond building.

Same here, But well CATS and Tranquility will continue even if we were down to only 1 person. Just because of the ideal behind it but the schematics almost killed off all players and the different rules for some players killed the rest.
Always feel free to crash around our toko at sanctuary 3. the only reason we did not move to an other planet was because the schematics debacle came right in the middle of our preparations.

Most of my org quit because of the schematics.  I quit after the "great schematics exploit" when nothing was done about it.  I used to LOVE industry, which is surprising.  I don't normally play with that kind of thing but I found I loved trying to build the most productive lines I could, seeing how many different projects I could keep running at once, and so on.  I would tweak for hours on my factory.  All that fun disappeared in a day by NQ disabling my entire factory and pricing schematics so only large orgs could afford a factory.  Meant I was now nothing more than than a miner who had to hustle ungodly amounts of ore - which is the most boring game-play ever.  Still a little salty about it.  ?
