A way to save voxel constructs with more than just copy paste...something like Landmark had. A list of constructs that you saved that you can pull up anytime. I'm in game now and I'm finding it hard to build without this feature. Also, copy paste of voxel constructs should allow for props too with a checkbox. Just my 2 sense worth!

"Suppose to be a challenge" Jesus christ they have their heads in the clouds. This is like on Easter I take my kids to the country and put 3 Easter eggs hidden...only over 20 acres. Good luck.

Make no mistake, this is them doing the BARE MINIMUM and trying to call it content. There is no challenge, or subsequent reward for aimlessly roaming empty space without some guidance.

    You're not wrong.

DU desperately needs some form of exploration mechanic post-Demeter!

It's really weird to have this vast sandbox with so much focus on shipbuilding...but then there's not much reason to fly your ship except between your tiles and the market? This definitely needs tuning. NQ is tragically stuck in the past if they think this sort of gameplay will scale today in 2022.

NQ, I had hoped you had taken this to heart.

I had hoped we were being offered an alternative to mining/manufacturing and courier work. A chance to play as a humble scavenger. If this expectation was either misguided or unrealistic, please read no further. However, if this was the goal...

...what exactly were you going for? It's been a week and I have roamed PvP space, both in-between planets, and out in random directions for a couple thousand SU, and have not found so much as an XS wreck. It feels as if you took your implementation of asteroid finding and went in the complete opposite direction to the extreme. Unless the goal was to just have us chance upon a wreck, here are a few reasons scavenging is completely untenable.

    - Detection distance: Space, as you know, is very big, and 2 SU is "needle in a haystack" metrics.

    - Rate of travel: This problem is two-fold. One, if traveling at maximum speed you are doing about 2.5 SU per minute (forgive my math if I am off). This means that you have less than a two minute window on your hours long search to see a wreck IF it intersects your search sphere right down the middle. The second issue being braking distance. Due to the detection range being so small, even a slight delay in seeing a wreck dead ahead could lead to you losing it in the backtracking process. Sure, we could reduce our cruising speed, but now we are covering less ground in an already astronomical search.

    - Spotting the wreck: As I mentioned you have a very small window of opportunity to even see a wreck in the perfect conditions. Are we expected to stare at our screens the entire time we are searching? Sure, some one may (perhaps already have) write some LUA to make an audible alarm if a radar contact pops up, but it hardly seems reasonable to have to rely on that. Slow-boating anywhere is an hours long process and to be expected to sit in your pilot seat staring at space is completely unreasonable.

    - Number of wrecks: Only you know how many are truly out there, but I will speak to the type of density needed to reasonably satisfy a scrapper such as myself. Over the course of, say, a four hour play session, I would hope to see roughly 2-3 wrecks. They don't need to be "What a haul!", but I do need to see something for my efforts.

In a game that has all but zero PvE, this is a great opportunity to add some that doesn't require AI, but we need reasonable tools to succeed! Increasing detection distance significantly doesn't meaningfully affect PvP (*ahem* such as it is) due to lock-on distances remaining unchanged, and this would be just the simplest of solutions. If I'm the only one who feels this way go ahead and ignore me, but if there are others out there that feel the same way, please speak up now!

Of course the game needs a wipe. Everyone knows it, and no one wants to say it. This is a no brainer for any company looking to take over this project. WIPE HYPE is real!

yes, this new mechanic of 'calibrating' the units every day is making me not want to play. The whole point was to 'automate' the process, not make it more boring. YES, I've logged in recently...and yes, I'll do my upkeep on the Porco Towers. But please change this. Thank you.

yes, this was a bonehead move by NQ. Most will leave the game and never return, especially after all the hard work they put in. Freeport will disappear. Congratulations NQ, you just broke your game with this taxes thing. I get the mining/digging changes to save money, but the taxes thing, and the broken auto mining will just not work. Change it....or lose your player base.

I don't ever post on here, but I feel that silence is consent and I don't consent.

500k per hex initially. 1mill per week per hex in taxes?

Monthly... maybe? I still don't like that.

Here is the issue. I love DU. I backed it in the Kickstarter. What I don't love is feeling forced to play a game just to keep my progress.

It is why WOW is failing and FFXIV is winning right now.

FFXIV encourages its players to take breaks. "Go play other games for a month or two. Come back fresh and enjoy your time in this game."-basically Yoshi-p

WOW basically does the opposite, and people are fed up with it. Which is why it is dying.

Logging in every few days to play a mining mini-game is a lot like WOW asking me to daily quests every day just to have access to the same type of content I can get in FFXIV at any point in the patch cycle. Other players are realizing that you don't have to bust your ass all the time to enjoy an online game.

I have a full steam library of voxel games. I assure you, if I wanted to build a big spaceship or space station by myself. I could load up StarMade in a heartbeat and have a good time.
In some ways, StarMade is a better voxel game than DU. I know many of you will agree with that. If not maybe you like Space Engineers, StarBase, Emyprion, Stationeers, Starship EVO, or something else more? As players, we have options for building ships and stations.

The service DU provides is that we are all on a single persistent world. That is the one good stand out thing this game does. I built a god-damn Gundam that waked in Starship Evo back when it was called "Skywanderers"... The voxel tech here is cool, but it's not that impressive. I am actually limiting my build potential by playing DU in some ways.

I put up with DU's jank and quirks because of the idea that I don't lose progress when I take breaks. I am good to play a voxel game for two months tops before I need to take a brake for like two to three months. I get burnt out. Same with any other game type. If I lose progress or have to bust my ass to pre-pay my taxes. I just won't.

RECONSIDER THE DAMN TAX RATE. MAYBE MONTLY.

CONSIDER ALLOWING MORE THAN ONE FREE HQ TILE.

I refuse to be in a situation where I am a slave to this game. I still have the old build on Skywanders on a HDD somewhere where you could build mechs. It would be a lot cooler if I had a reason not to just go do that instead.

    Yea...
NQ dropped the ball on this one..
Instead of making it extremely cheap and then raising the cost to adjust to the need, they went with the highest cost they could justify...

Maybe they are trying to fix the econony problem with making mining hard.

But something was left out of this equation: user experience...

Totally agree people making the game don't understand economics, resource scarcity. But especially the fact that time is money. They say you have unlimited ore. But 100 - 400L/hr is nowhere near unlimited; because time is not unlimited.

My group's resources have not dried up YET.
Would you be interested in joining me? See if we can get you and us through this?

I started playing with a friend about 10 days ago. We have had a lot of fun sofar. Although the "old" mining system was more boring than watching paint dry, doing it together and chatting a bit, made is slightly less mindnumbingly boring. We have built a little base for ourselves, created an organisation that claimed three adjacent tiles.
In building all this up we have not built up any stockpile and therefore at the time that Demeter dropped, we had empty ore containers and 168 Quanta between the two of us.
We somehow managed to get 4 Basic L mining units up, generating 194 units of ore with a current value of 7.865 Quanta, per hour. In three days time we need to pay 3 milion in taxes.

This we cannot pay. Considering our current income, it would take 381 hours to mine that. And this bill is recurring every week. In other words we are bankrupt.

I just wish that the taxrate would increase with each additional territory (and possibly give the first one or two tiles for free), just like placing each territory control unit gets more expensive. we still very much are n00bs in this game and the learning curve is already very steep, but from our point of view the Demeter patch has killed any chance for new players to get a foothold at all. I would have loved to see space and other celestial objects and perhaps even some PVP...

Anyway, we really had a lot of fun, but right now there is no point for us to continue playing. Our small base is at ::pos{0,2,56.5535,-170.9944,32.7241} it should be free to loot in a few days.

    Goodbye!

    1. Please make HQ tiles 7 vs. 5 so that way if we need to take a break we can maintain a bonus constellation of hexes if we can't be online to mine it for extended period of time. 5 seems like an arbitrary number out of kneejerk response to appease all the players with torches and pitchforks. 7 on the other hand creates a function & aesthetic number of tiles that feels complete, and allows players to take breaks in case you know their parents has cancer, or they lose their job, or both of these things at the same time.... kind of stuff in life.

    2. Make recalibration & drop off after 7 days not 2... (keep the current recharge rates/cap etc.) If I have to login every day to spend my charges, I don't want to do it to nanny the same mining unit I just nannied 48 hours ago, to simply maintain efficiency rates. Some of us can only play on weekends, and work several jobs, so it feels like a punishment for being responsible in real life.

UMMMM....we've been bitching about 'abandoned constructs' forever....and NOTHING!!! Either give us a way to scavenge them, or make them disappear, or something! Not only would that add SOMETHING TO DO....but it would resolve the problem. Send everyone an email saying that unless they log in, their stuff will be gone and accessible by other players in 30-60 days.
